Petitions
May 14 - The Sixth Sunday of Easter
- In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us that if we truly love him we will keep his commandments. We pray for the grace and wisdom to resist all temptations and to show the love to others that we aspire to bestow on Christ himself. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For all mothers on this Mother’s Day weekend, that through the intercession of the Mother of God, the Lord will bless them and reward them for their sacrifices and love. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For all those preparing for confirmation, may they ardently ready themselves to receive the Holy Spirit at the laying on of hands of Bishop Johnston as the Samarian believers did in today’s first reading at the hands of Peter and John, our bishop’s apostolic predecessors. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For peace in Ukraine, stability of Lebanon, justice in Myanmar, an end to violence in Haiti, freedom from religious persecution in Nigeria, relief from wildfires in Canada and floods in Africa, and a stop to mass shootings in the United States, may hope be restored to all broken communities. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For the safety of all workers as demolition begins to clear the way for the Building Glory addition to the Cathedral, for the patience of Cathedral worshippers for any inconveniences caused by the work, for the continued financial support needed to complete the effort. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
- In this month of May, we turn to our Mother Mary and ask that she comfort those who are in mourning for loved ones, be close to those who are sick, especially Judy Sheckels, sister of Karen Hawk, and bless the work of those who care for them. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
- For all the faithful departed, especially Ron Baker and the deceased mothers of all present, may they find their just reward in heaven. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
