One more day to Santiago de Compostela! Tomorrow will be our (Fr. Tony and me) 43rd day since we left Ste. Jean-Pied-du-Port on September 25. We’ve experienced heat, cold, wind and rain. Sunburn, sore muscles, sore feet and even bedbugs have been our companions for the last 6 weeks. We will forever treasure the sights, sounds and smells all along the Camino Français: From the Pyrenees, Su through the Rioja region, over the Meseta, the Cantabrian mountains, and the lush, green mountains of Galicia. We won’t soon forget the magnificent, medieval cathedrals in Pamplona, Burgos, Leon and Santiago de Compostela nor the many smaller, community churches and chapels that line the Way. But most of all, we will remember the pilgrims from a multitude of different countries whom we’ve had the pleasure to meet, many of whom have become close friends in such a short time. But we miss our family and friends from home; we’re just about ready to come home. One more day to Santiago de Compostela!
