The world is indeed very small.
While talking with a member of our original Camino family during dinner in Pamplona, Chad (USA) & I discovered that we both were raised in the St. Louis area. He mentioned the name of the outlying suburb in which he was raised and I responded that I had first cousins from that town. When I told him their last name, LeBaube, he pulled out his phone and showed me the contact, Julie LeBaube, a good friend of his and the daughter of Jeff, my first cousin. Small world, indeed!

It didn’t take long to begin assembling a new Camino family. Steve & Donna Geisinger from Gladstone, MO joined Fr. Tony & me in our last evening in Pamplona and will stay with us through Logroño this coming Friday. I have known Steve & Donna through Boy Scout Troop 180 at St. Charles Parish for a number of years and it is a pleasure sharing the Camino experience with them.
Today after our rest day in Pamplona, walked only 11 miles to Uterga over Alto de Perdon but the app on my phone says we walked 15 miles and 27,000 steps!! My knees felt every jarring step up and down Alto de Perdon. On top of that, I’ve caught a cold!
What did I mention in an earlier post regarding pain and suffering? Although I recognize that my physical discomfort is minor compared to the mental and emotional pains of my fellow pilgrims, it was very hard to see that during today’s walk. Hopefully, a good night’s sleep will rejuvenate my legs.
